During the month, iShares also chose the Amsterdam venue for the iShares Euro Stoxx 50 ex-Financials UCITS ETF (EXFN), the first ETF to come to market in continental Europe using an international security structure, where settlement of transactions is exclusively at Euroclear Bank – the international central securities depository (ICSD).

Finally, Lyxor listed 1 new ETF on Euronext Paris:

At the end of February, Euronext’s markets counted 662 listings of 572 ETFs from 17 issuers.

Trading activity

Average daily value traded on-book in February of €250.2 million, a decrease of 7.2% vs January 2014, and down 1.0% vs February 2013.

Total value traded on-book amounted to €5.0 billion, a decrease of 19.3% vs January 2014, and down 1.0% vs February 2013.

Average of 6,930 on-book trades (single-counted) executed daily last month, a decrease of 21.0% vs January 2014, and down 5.5% vs February 2013.

Total of €1.41 billion exchanged in block trades in February, up 23.6% from the €1.14 billion in January 2014, and up 26.3% vs February 2013.

Overall, block trade volume represented 28.2% of the total regulated market ETF trading activity on Euronext.

Assets Under Management (AUM)

At the end of February 2014, the combined AUM of all ETFs listed on Euronext’s markets totalled €171.8 billion.

Market Quality

In February, 9 LPs took on  responsibilities for 41 new LP contracts on 38 different ETFs:  

Virtu expanded their current activity with a total of 12 ETFs: 5 Lyxor ETFs, 5 iShares ETFs, and 2   db x-trackers. 

Getco Europe added 10 db x-trackers to their list. 

Flow Traders started activity on an additional 7 ETFs: 3 Lyxor ETFs, 1 iShares ETF, 1 EasyETF, 1 HSBC ETF, and 1 SPDR ETF.

Optiver took the lead on the 2 new ABN Amro ETFs, while also adding 1 Lyxor ETF, 1 iShares ETF, 1 EasyETF, and 1 HSBC ETF to their list.  

SG Securities took the lead on the new Lyxor ETF, and also started activity on 1 EasyETF.

Commerzbank added 1 Lyxor ETF to their list.

Citigroup Global Markets, Merrill Lynch International, and Susquehanna all took the lead on the new iShares ETF with an international security structure.

Median spread for all listed ETFs of 24.9 bps, an improvement of 9% vs January 2014 and up 2% vs February 2013.
